FAQ

          Answers to frequently asked questions.

There will be four students per room. If there are four of you who would like to room together, it is imperative that all four of you fill out your roommate request forms with the same four names. If you do this and all four of you bring me your completed forms together, I will put all four of you in the same room.

How many students per room?

If you do not have a group of four, that is okay. Just list who you would like to room with and I will match you up as best I can. Sometimes, your choices simply will not be available. If that happens I will send a pass and ask you to come to my room at lunch to see what we can do. Please make sure you do show up if you get a pass.I will post the roommate list on my website shortly after the due date to turn in the forms. Be sure to check the list and let me know if there is a problem right away. Don't wait to tell me later. If you wait it may be too late to make a change. Be advised. not everyone is going to get the roommate they want. I will do the best I can but roommate choice is NOT guaranteed. That being said, I have found over the years that the roommates that do not know each other very well actually get along the best....and besides, you will be so tired about all you are going to do in your room is shower and sleep.

What if I don't have a group of four?

On the trip, we fill two buses with a maximum of 55 passengers per bus. With two guides and a total of nine teacher chaperones we have space left for 99 students and/or parents.  Once our sign ups reach 99, the registration list is closed and anyone else who wishes to sign up will be put on a waitlist. I will clear people from the waitlist on a one-out, one-in basis. In other words, if someone drops out I will clear someone from the waitlist. Except for a few rare exceptions, the waitlist is cleared in the same order as people signed up.

How does the waitlist work?

There are just two adults per room. If you paid extra for a single room please make a note of that on the roommate request form so I don't forget. As with the students, I will match you up the best I can. If you don't know anyone don't worry, we all seem to get along pretty well over the course of the week.

How about adult rooms?

What happens if I demand a change in my roommate situation shortly before the trip?

It seems like every year I get a call from a parent, long after roommates have been selected, angry that their child didn't get the roommate they wanted and they are going to cancel if I don't make a change right now. If you have a problem concerning your room assignment, you need to get in touch with me right away. I may not be able to give you what you want but I will be happy to go through all of your options. I want everyone to be as happy with their roommates as possible however, as mentioned above ... roommate choice is NOT guaranteed.  I usually get this roommate issue call a couple days before the trip and it is almost always concerning a child who didn't return the request form and never came to see me about their room assignment. I am not going to try and accommodate this last minute issue anymore. If I get a call threatening to cancel over the room assignment issue then that student's trip will be cancelled.

What happens if I never clear the waitlist?

If we end up not having room on the trip for you our tour company will refund all the money you have paid for the trip, including the "non-refundable" deposit.  I am truly sorry that I cannot take everyone on this trip. I really wish I could. I am so sorry.
